This fall, I’ll be starting my fourth year at Otterbein University. I recently completed a summer internship in the human resources department at Worthington Enterprises and my experience has been nothing short of incredible. The hands-on learning throughout the program has allowed me to better understand and more quickly develop my professional skills.
Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to work with many members of the HR team at Worthington. While my primary focus has been helping execute the Summer Internship Program (yes, the one that I was a part of!), I have also been fortunate enough to assist with projects that have pushed me to become a better problem solver, express my creative side and to grow my organizational and communication skills.
While I have grown considerably in my specific role on the talent management team, I also learned so much about Worthington as a company. From day one, I experienced the company’s Philosophy, how it’s engrained in everyday work and why it is so important. I play collegiate volleyball at Otterbein, and as a student-athlete, I can relate personally to the importance of established values and a strong culture that puts people first. I can say with full confidence that Worthington Enterprises truly believes that people are its greatest asset—I witnessed this incredible culture on my very first day and continued to see the Philosophy in action throughout the summer. It was an all-around great experience and one that I know will prove useful as I complete my undergrad and pursue a career.
