As my three-month internship at Worthington Enterprises comes to a close, I’ve taken some time to reflect on an experience that has been both meaningful and transformative. At Worthington, I worked as a customer service intern for the Consumer Products Group, and throughout my time here, I was able to grow both professionally and personally through hands-on projects, collaborative work and a vibrant company culture that truly values development.
Over the summer, I supported several key projects that gave me a well-rounded view of how our team operates. I helped generate insightful reports using Bazaarvoice to better understand consumer feedback, coordinated onboarding schedules for two new hires and collaborated with brand teams to update consumer care documents to ensure the information our team uses is current and on-brand. Each of these projects gave me the chance to contribute in a meaningful way.
Beyond the work itself, one of the most valuable lessons I learned during this internship was the importance of taking advantage of the connections Worthington offers. There are so many opportunities to meet people from across the organization and each conversation gave me a new perspective, a piece of advice or a better understanding of how different teams work together. I also experienced the power of positive culture—being surrounded by people who care about their work and their colleagues and celebrate everyone’s successes.
Some of the best parts of this summer internship came from outside of my day-to-day work. The intern program’s philanthropy event at the Ohio Wildlife Center was a great way to give back and spend time together as a team. The companywide “summer games” event was definitely a highlight—I met people from across many departments, and it was the perfect mix of competition and fun. I also really appreciated the bi-weekly intern sessions. They gave me a better understanding of different areas of the business and shared practical advice that I’ll take with me moving forward.
This internship gave me so much more than I ever expected. I gained real-world experience and expanded my skillsets. Worthington excels in everything they do, and the people here are a big part of what makes it such a great place. I’m incredibly grateful for the past three months, and I’m walking away with not only new knowledge, but also lasting memories and relationships.
